Women USA Gymnastics Team Torches the FBI

( – The Federal Bureau of Investigations has recently found itself on the burner for several legal issues, with the Justice Department starting to see just how much the agency has failed the people of America. For the US gymnastics team, the ineptitude has led to years of pain.

In harrowing testimony, four gymnasts who participated in previous years described their abuse at the hands of Larry Nassar, Team USA’s Women Gymnastics’ doctor for 18 years. Among the abused is Simone Biles, one of the best athletes in the world and perhaps the most decorated gymnast.

The four women ripped into the FBI over the way it handled the entire situation. Each of the women also detailed their abuse by Nassar. McKayla Maroney remembers calling the FBI over Nassar’s allegations, but they essentially didn’t believe her.

Maroney noted that they didn’t file her report until about 17 months after the FBI interviewed her. The gymnast added that when the Bureau finally did issue the information, they falsified what she said, effectively covering up Nassar’s abuse.

Maggie Nichols alleged that she told the FBI about Nassar abusing her in 2015, but the federal agency didn’t do anything for over a year. After the hearing Taylor Lorincz asserted that she shouldn’t have even been there, as in at the courtroom, noting that if the FBI did its job, she and countless others wouldn’t have experienced Nassar’s abuse.

Advocates for the women Nassar sexually assaulted estimate that as many as 120 girls and young women may have been subjected to the doctor’s abuse after the FBI first heard about it.
