Will Democrats Be Able to Pass Their Legislation in September?

(TheConservativeNews.org) – The Democratic Party had a triumphant start going into 2021 by taking control of the White House and both houses of Congress. Now, things are looking decidedly less rosy for Liberals. A growing rift between radicals and moderates has left their wildly ambitious legislative plans looking increasingly unsteady with each passing day.

Democrats will try to finish working on the $4.5-trillion infrastructure and spending plan within days of returning to the House and Senate. However, with moderates like Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) reportedly unwilling to pass the bigger of the two bills on the table, the party could be facing an intractable problem.

This isn’t the only issue facing the Left, however. It will also have to contend with a vote on the extension of the debt ceiling, debates over voting rights, and how to deal with abortion given the conservative majority in the US Supreme Court. There’s also the persistent controversy around the situation in Afghanistan, which many commentators have blamed squarely on the ineptitude of President Joe Biden.

Of course, this all presents a huge opportunity for the GOP with respect to the midterm elections next year. Why would the nation re-elect a party that’s too busy bickering to enact change when it has complete control over the executive and legislative branches?
