(TheConservativeNews.org) – The Major League Baseball season of 2021 began on Thursday, April 1. Ordinarily, spectator stands would be full across America — this year, of course, things are a little different. While states like Texas plan to allow full-capacity crowds, most areas of the country will limit attendance at first.
These limitations will have a significant bearing on local economies. Cities with baseball teams drawing crowds every weekend will enjoy the financial benefits of ticket and merchandise sales. Not only that, but supporting industries (bars, restaurants, hotels, and so on) will get a much-needed boost as well. Those cities without full baseball stadiums will miss out.
As vaccination rates climb across the country, this kind of discussion will become more relevant. Policymakers will need to continually evaluate the lifting of restrictions as more people receive inoculations.
This most impacts businesses that require lots of people to gather at once, like venues and theaters. The longer politicians wait to ease restrictions, the more businesses like these will go under, and the further hundreds of thousands of Americans will move into poverty.
