(TheConservativeNews.org) – There was much talk of winning and losing during Donald Trump’s presidency. There were victories for those who favor common sense policies on immigration and taxation, while there was loss after loss for the faction who want to turn America into a politically-correct police state. Of all the losers, however, it’s hard to think of any person or institution hit quite as hard as mainstream media (MSM).
Until relatively recently, a lot of people blindly trusted what they heard and saw on the news. When Trump came along, he exposed the deep-seated biases of major news organizations, along with their alarming willingness to tell lies. Now, it’s clear just how damaging their missteps have been.
On Thursday, January 21, data published by Axios revealed public trust in traditional media organizations stands at just 27%. Also, 56% of Americans believe journalists actively mislead their readers, while 58% think media groups are more concerned with ideology than impartial reporting of events.
These findings will not be surprising for anyone who regularly consumes mainstream media. However, they still make for worrying reading. If news corporations can’t be trusted to tell us what’s going on in the world, who can?
