Trump Requests Congress Pass Next Stimulus Package

( – The CARES Act was introduced in March of this year. Ever since, the federal government has not provided Americans with any further financial relief. Despite the fact the economy is suffering due to COVID-19, representatives of the two main parties in Congress have been unable to reach an agreement on another package.

On Saturday, November 28, President Donald Trump weighed in on the matter. He posted the tweet below in an effort to encourage Congressional Democrats and Republicans to work together on this issue.

This is not the first time Trump has spoken up about a second relief package. He has, on several occasions, expressed his willingness to sign off on further grants. However, the president cannot do anything until Congress agrees on a bill and sends it to him.

A few commentators have speculated that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is the figure making progress on this matter impossible. She’s continually insisted on too extensive a deal for her Republican counterparts to approve. The president’s encouragement is unlikely to soften Pelosi’s position, so we’ll have to hope she’s able to look past partisan politics in order to reach a deal.
