( – Something happened this week that most of us never thought we’d see in our lifetimes: a historic Middle East peace deal was made. President Donald Trump was at the center of it all.

Trump announced on Twitter that he helped facilitate a peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday, August 13. The deal was called the “Abraham Accord,” and it was named after the “father of all three great faiths.”

President Trump, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed put out a joint statement saying the three countries came to an agreement to improve relations between Israel and the UAE.

This Deal Is Thanks to Trump

The statement also said the “diplomatic breakthrough” happened because of Donald Trump.

According to the details of the agreement, Israel will stop declaring sovereignty over areas the president outlined in his efforts to bring about peace. Instead, it will focus more on expanding its ties with other countries in the Muslim and Arab world.

The agreement also gave special attention to the global COVID-19 pandemic. It stated the UAE and Israel would immediately accelerate and expand cooperation between the two countries in the pursuit of developing a new vaccine for the coronavirus.

On top of that, the two countries will join the US in launching a strategic plan to expand security, trade, and diplomatic cooperation in the Middle East. And, they will continue efforts to reach a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Following Trump’s announcement regarding the deal, the president told reporters Israel and the UAE are going to begin cooperating in all areas. That will include exchanging ambassadors and embassies. He expects other countries to join the UAE in working with Israel going forward.

Israel has faced conflict since its inception after WWII. The problems in the Middle East have been going on for decades. But now, thanks to President Trump, there’s real hope for lasting peace. Not bad for less than a four-year effort. Not bad at all.
