(TheConservativeNews.org) – When people think of the Kardashians, political activism is perhaps not the first thing that springs to mind. However, Kim Kardashian has been breaking away from her perceived persona for a while now, having done extensive advocacy work in the last couple of years.
On Wednesday, January 20, during the final hours of his presidency, Donald Trump vindicated Kardashian’s efforts by granting clemency to 31 convicts she had campaigned for. She first began campaigning for justice reform around three years ago, and previously met with Trump in relation to various aspects of this work.
All of these people had been jailed because of nonviolent drug offenses; in some cases, it had been their first brush with the law. Trump granted a full pardon to one of them, too.
The tweet below tells the story of one of the beneficiaries of today’s sentence commutations.
These were among a total of 143 people who received clemency or pardons from President Trump on Wednesday. Other notable figures who benefited included Steve Bannon, charged with money laundering and conspiracy charges, and rapper Lil’ Wayne, who was charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
