(TheConservativeNews.org) – Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ron Johnson (R-WI) have been investigating the origins of the FBI’s Russia investigation for some time. However, their efforts have not proceeded without obstacles. On Tuesday, October 13, news broke that the senators had expressed dissatisfaction with senior FBI officials because of their failure to produce subpoenaed text messages in a timely fashion.
The text messages in question belong to former deputy director of the FBI Andrew McCabe. The senators subpoenaed these messages in August; they’ve been waiting over two months for their release.
Johnson, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee, and Grassley, who is Senate Finance Committee Chairman, have already read 8% of McCabe’s correspondence. They say the content of the messages was highly useful in their investigation.
The lack of cooperation from agency operatives with Johnson and Grassley may or may not be a clue as to potential wrongdoing. One way or another, it’s clear FBI officials are not keen to see the two senators pursuing their investigation.
