(TheConservativeNews.org) – Taking his second trip out of the country, President Biden is in Europe in anticipation of the G20 Summit in Rome, Italy. The president is on his way to the United Nations climate change conference, COP26, in Glasgow, Scotland.

While in Rome, the president visited the pope at the Vatican. The meeting between the two lasted around 90 minutes, beginning at noon and continuing until around 1:30 p.m. local time. The meeting was secretive, but Biden released details on some of the topics the two discussed.

Fittingly, Biden noted that he and the religious leader spent part of the meeting conversing about climate change and the morality of dealing with it. The president added there was no mention of abortion during the 90-minute session, despite increasing pressure from US bishops.

President Biden asserted that the discussion largely involved Pope Francis expressing his gratitude that Biden was such a good Catholic and should continue to receive communion, though the pope didn’t serve any himself. Biden added the two leaders prayed for peace for each other. Biden is the second Catholic to serve as President of the United States, the first being President John F. Kennedy. The White House indicated the meeting between the president and the pope appeared to be friendly as the two officials laughed and joked.
