(TheConservativeNews.org) – The Supreme Court is wrapping up its term this month, and several immensely consequential decisions will soon be released.
Normally, the justices would gather to read the new opinions in a dramatic and majestic ceremony. Not so in these times.
Instead, the courtroom’s majestic chamber is dark. The plaza has been completely walled off by security fences, a move prompted by protests that erupted last month after a draft opinion was leaked to the media.
The draft was about abortion, one of the most controversial decision facing our nation right now, and the leaked draft indicated that SCOTUS is set to overturn Roe v Wade.
In the draft opinion, Justice Alito said that Roe “must be overruled.” If the five-member majority holds, it will wipe away near 50-year-old precedent and change the landscape of women’s reproductive health going forward.
“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” he writes in the document. “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
“We, therefore, hold the Constitution does not confer a right to abortion. Roe and Casey must be overruled, and the authority to regulate abortion must be returned to the people and their elected representatives,” Alito writes in the document, labeled the “Opinion of the Court.”
If Roe v Wade is over turned, it will leave state legislators to make their own abortion policies.
The left does not believe this decision should be left up for states to decide. They have taken to the streets to protest. In some cases they have set up protest right out side some of the Justices house.
Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., slammed the “woke” left’s alleged disrespect for the Supreme Court and called out U.S. leaders for their apathy on the issue. Kennedy told “America’s Newsroom” host Bill Hemmer Monday that the intimidation tactics enacted against Republican-appointed justices will continue as long as it is allowed.
Kennedy said, “This is more than just about abortion. It’s about respect for American institutions. I think most people can say that all of this is being driven by the anti-intellectual, crypto-socialist woke left that the Biden administration has embraced and frankly, that is in charge of in Washington, D.C. When the draft opinion was leaked, the wokers’ response was immediate.”
Kennedy went on to say that, “they said, we don’t agree with it, so let’s burn the place down, let’s intimidate the justices, let’s intimidate their spouses, let’s intimidate their kids, let’s publish their telephone numbers and addresses on the Internet and, while we’re at it, let’s pack the court and abolish the filibuster.’ What you allow is what will continue, and the Biden administration has embraced that. I don’t think the Biden administration and most of my Democratic colleagues have pushed back at all.”
Fox News host Sean Hannity also weighed in saying, “alright now tonight more left-wing intimidation tactics ahead of the Supreme Court’s expected abortion ruling, I guess it can come any day now. Now pro-abortion protesters swarmed outside of Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s home this weekend dressed in clothing appearing to be soaked with blood take a look at this. Holding baby doll toys, holding signs reading things like abortion on demand with no apology. Remember it was Jen Psaki who actually encouraged that type of demonstration which in fact does violate federal law 18 US c 1507.
He said, “and remember that group Ruth Sent Us also called for demonstrations at Justice Comey Barrett’s church and even named the school that her children attend. Even said how many times she goes to church on any given week.”
