(TheConservativeNews.org) – Antifa has quickly emerged as one of the most dangerous political activism groups in the United States. While it’s not a well-defined organization, its symbols appear at just about every violent leftist demonstration. Now, it appears Montana’s legislators could be set to take decisive action against the group.

On Tuesday, February 16, Montana House Rep. Braxton Mitchell (R) introduced a resolution that would categorize Antifa as an extremist organization. Mitchell said his bill would show that the state “won’t tolerate” the group’s actions within their borders.

Montana has not been heavily affected by Antifa riots. However, the group has caused severe damage and unrest in many American cities over the last year, including Seattle, Portland, and Minneapolis. Mitchell, a freshman representative, who is just 20 years old, says the legislation would have symbolic importance, adding that he and his colleagues were “trying to send a message.”

The informal, decentralized nature of Antifa could pose hurdles to this legislation from a practical point of view. However, as Mitchell says, it would send an important message about the illegitimacy of Antifa activities.
