Smugglers Undeterred: Take Advantage of Technology

( – During Donald Trump’s first election campaign in 2016, one of the policies that drew the most ire from Liberals was the proposed border wall. They claimed it was motivated by xenophobia, that it wouldn’t work, and there was no real necessity for it. The truth, of course, is very different, and there are plenty of news stories that highlight the need for one.

In January of this year, for example, authorities discovered the longest-ever smuggling tunnel in American history. It ran for over 4,000 feet, connecting the Mexican city of Tijuana with an American entry point in the San Diego area. Though police did not make any arrests or seizures, they believe the tunnel to be the handiwork of the Sinaloa cartel.

This is not the only example of innovation on the part of the cartels. There have been numerous reports of traffickers using drones to carry items across the border because of the challenge posed by the wall. People who have noticed these flying devices have reported them, helping authorities to keep the smuggling under control.

Clearly, sophisticated smuggling efforts like this would not be necessary if Trump’s border patrol regime was a failure. Despite what Liberals would like us to believe, it’s in everyone’s best interest to have a forceful presence on our southern border.
