(TheConservativeNews.org) – Large event venues across the country have begun reopening in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. People are once again able to enjoy live events, and the struggling entertainment industry is getting back on its feet. However, large gatherings carry more risks than viral spread. Tragically, one man lost his life after falling from a height during a concert in New York last week.
The 46-year-old reportedly attended a Dead & Company concert in Citi Field Stadium (the home of the New York Mets) on Friday, August 20. According to NYPD Detective Sophia Person, his injuries suggest he fell “from an elevated position,” likely a second-story staircase in the stadium. It’s not clear if the incident occurred during the concert.
The police have not yet been able to publicly name the man as they’re still in the process of notifying members of his family. The officers investigating the fall have not yet officially confirmed it was an accident.
First responders took the man to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in critical condition, but they were too late to save him. Doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead later on Friday.
A representative of the New York Mets issued a statement expressing the organization’s condolences to the deceased man’s family.
