(TheConservativeNews.org) – Ivermectin has become the source of a heated debate in the medical community of late. The CDC recently issued guidance that the drug was not suitable for human use to treat or lessen the likelihood of COVID-19. They added that health events related to consumption of Ivermectin had spiked of late. However, one Republican lawmaker reckons the CDC isn’t telling the whole story.
On Friday, August 27, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) claimed political bias was preventing federal health agencies from seriously examining Ivermectin’s potential as a COVID-19 treatment. Speaking to constituents at an event in Cold Spring, Kentucky, Paul claimed “hatred for Trump” was the reason objective studies on the horse medicine, as well as Hydroxychloroquine, were lacking. He claimed he’s “in the middle” on the question of Ivermectin as a COVID-19 remedy.
This isn’t the first time Paul has made his voice heard on a topic related to the pandemic. In July, he challenged Dr. Anthony Fauci on whether the National Institutes of Health (NIH) had funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan, prompting an angry outburst from Fauci.
Paul, a doctor, wasn’t recommending that people take Ivermectin. However, he does believe medicines with apparent potential should not be disregarded simply for reasons of politics.
