(TheConservativeNews.org) – Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) offered a divisive opinion this week while airing her views on Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s replacement. On Friday, September 18, Ocasio-Cortez took to Instagram to protest the idea that President Donald Trump would get the chance to nominate Ginsburg’s successor. She also encouraged action to be taken over this issue.
AOC expressed concerns the Supreme Court would become too conservative if Trump got to make a third nomination, which would affect Liberal causes like climate change and abortion access.
The congresswoman also noted the deceased Ginsburg’s “dying wish” was for someone other than Donald Trump to pick her replacement. She urged her followers to “fight… from the streets to the Senate” to delay the nomination of a new justice.
Not everyone shares Ocasio-Cortez’s feelings on this issue. The law provides that neither AOC nor Ginsburg herself have any say in the matter. The power to appoint a Supreme Court justice rests with the president, and that role is Donald Trump’s until next year as it currently stands.
AOC’s comments highlight the disregard Democrats have for our Constitution. The faults they perceive President Trump to have as a leader outweigh their mandate to uphold democracy in America. Unfortunately for Ocasio-Cortez and her colleagues, the majority in America do not share their views.
