(TheConservativeNews.org) – DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday held a presser in Brownsville, Texas as Title 42 sets to expire next week, declaring that the southern border is closed, has always been closed, and will remain closed.
More than 6 million illegal aliens have crossed over the US border since Joe Biden was installed in January 2021.
Right now hundreds of thousands of illegals are at the border waiting for Title 42 to expire. As well as a massive caravan of illegals is en route to the United States.
Meanwhile Mayorkas is claiming he has a “six pillar” plan to handle the millions of illegals that are going to rush the US border.
“The situation at the border is a very serious one, a very challenging one, and a very difficult one,” Mayorkas said.
“The border is not open, it has not been open, and it will not be open subsequent to May 11th,” he said.
Mayorkas insists the administration is working its plan.
“We have a plan, we are executing on that plan,” Mayorkas said. “Fundamentally, however, we are working within a broken immigration system that for decades has been in dire need of reform.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Friday that it is raising the number of people admitted to the country at land crossings with Mexico to 1,000 a day from 740 using a mobile app called CBPOne that was extended in January to asylum-seekers. Demand has far outweighed available slots.
Mayorkas may be right that the immigration system is broken but the fact is that this administration doesn’t even enforce the laws already on the books. Laws don’t work if they aren’t enforced. The administration should get back to the rule of law and continue to work with lawmakers to find solutions to remaining problems.
