Mnuchin Willing to Meet Dems Halfway — But Will They Come to the Table?

( – Millions of Americans are hurting right now, but instead of working with Republicans to help them, the Democrats are playing their usual political games. To try and end the squabble, they’ve been negotiating with White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on a new stimulus package. White House executives may be open to a partial deal and get this crucial legislation passed.

So far, the opposing parties have been unable to come to an agreement. One of the sticking points is the Democrats want to give a bailout to blue states that have been mismanaged for years. They also want money for their progressive pet projects. These are both nonstarters for the Republicans.

On August 9, Mnuchin made an appearance on Fox News, where he criticized the Dems for their frivolous proposals. But, he left the door open for more negotiations. He said if the Democrats had a new idea, he was still willing to listen.

Mnuchin urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to help pass a bill on the things they agree on. Republicans are willing to meet them in the middle and are open to honest discussions on how to best help the American people. We’ll see if the Democrats are more interested in obstruction or in actually getting something done.
