With apps like TikTok and Instagram beaming video content of these types of skills onto people’s cell phones all day, every day, there’s never been a better time to embrace the weirdness and double down on your most unusual pastimes. Last month, one New Yorker’s skill at downing soda earned him worldwide acclaim.
Eric “Badlands” Booker is a competitive eater and YouTube personality, and he’s now a Guinness World Record holder. Booker logged the fastest time ever to drink 2 liters (67.6 fl. oz) of soda, finishing the massive beverage in just 18.45 seconds.
The newly-crowned king of competitive soda consumption recorded the attempt at his home in the presence of his son and wife. The Guinness World Records YouTube page posted the video, and you can watch the footage below. Despite the gravity of the undertaking and Booker’s obvious dedication to his craft, he remains jovial and relaxed throughout the video. Unsurprisingly, he indulges in a large burp as soon as the soda is finished.
What’s incredibly impressive about this, aside from the speed at which Booker slams the cola, is the fact that he manages to finish the challenge without spilling a drop. How does he do it?!
