(TheConservativeNews.org) – The 2021 Nobel Peace Prize gained a worthy nominee this week in the form of President Donald Trump. On September 9, Trump was nominated by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a Norwegian parliamentarian, citing the president’s influential role in facilitating historic peace talks between Israel and the UAE in recent weeks.

The agreements reached there could herald the beginning of a new era of peace and prosperity in the Middle East.

However, Trump’s recent efforts at international peacekeeping should not be considered in isolation. His swift and decisive military action in Iran in January of this year put an end to burgeoning tensions with minimal bloodshed. His diplomacy with North Korean leadership over the second half of his first term has also been remarkable, de-escalating dangerous hostilities that had existed for close to seven decades.

As seen below, Trump has paid more than one visit to the North Korean leader:

This is President Trump’s second nomination for the prize, having also been proposed as a candidate in 2018. It’s a well-deserved accolade for a man who, despite causing his fair share of political dispute, has worked tirelessly to stifle military conflict during his tenure.
