(TheConservativeNews.org) – Since the controversy around Hunter Biden’s laptop late last year, Big Tech companies have been at the center of scandal after scandal. By now, it’s perfectly clear that these companies have little regard for democracy, and that they’ll do just about anything to further their own interests and agendas. We saw the latest example of this just this week, and two Republicans are fighting back.
On Tuesday, May 4, Republican Senators Mike Lee (UT) and Ken Buck (CO) wrote a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland seeking an investigation of Amazon over allegations of corruption. The letter raises the possibility that Amazon bribed a senior official at the Department of Defense (DOD) to improve its chances of securing a $10-billion contract last year.
The allegations stem from $1 million worth of payments made by Amazon to Sally Donnelly, who was then a DOD staffer. The payments were ostensibly for the sale of Donnelly’s company, but she reported only $390,000 from this transaction. Donnelly was noted as having a favorable attitude toward Amazon when officials were deciding which firm should get the contract.
