(TheConservativeNews.org) – President Biden’s former White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, tossed her former boss under a bus on Sunday, telling her new NBC colleagues that, should the 2022 midterm election become a “referendum” on Biden’s performance thus far, Democrats will lose.
Appearing Sunday on “Meet the Press,” the NBC News’s new contributor — freed from the need to spin everything Joe Biden does into a positive message — Psaki pointed to crime and a tanking economy and suggested that Democrats play up the “extreme Republicans” angle if they want to win in November.
“I think that Democrats, if the election is about who is the most extreme … then they’re going to win,” she stated. “If it is a referendum on the president, they will lose. And they know that.”
According to Psaki, the left also knows “that crime is a huge vulnerability for Democrats.”
“I would say one of the biggest vulnerabilities,” she said.
Psaki pointed to Pennsylvania and the Senate race between Republican candidate Mehmet Oz and his Democratic opponent, John Fetterman and explained, “you follow the money.”
“And in Pennsylvania,” she noted, “the Republicans have been spending millions of dollars on the air on crime ads against Fetterman because that’s where they see his vulnerability.”
“So, yes, the economy is hanging over everything,” she concluded. “But you do have to look at state-by-state factors. And crime is a huge issue in the Pennsylvania race.”
Indeed, Dr. Oz has been hammering home the issue on Twitter for months.
“John Fetterman sides with criminals, not the safety of Pennsylvanians,” he tweeted recently. “He can’t be trusted to crack down on crime.”
According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, the Press Sec best known for “circling back” to items that painted Biden in an unflattering light isn’t wrong.
A mere 35% of Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents want Biden to be the 2024 nominee, while a whopping 56% want the party to find someone else to run.
Should Donald Trump be the Republican nominee against Biden, registered voters in America choose Trump by two points, 48% to 46%.
“That’s even while 52% of Americans say Trump should be charged with a crime in any of the matters in which he’s under federal investigation, similar to views after the storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6,” ABC reports.
And if Dems are pinning their hopes on the overturning of Roe v. Wade, they are likely in for a disappointment.
“On issues, the survey finds broad opposition to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling eliminating a constitutional right to abortion and a big Democratic advantage in trust to handle the issue,” ABC states. “But there’s no sign it’s impacting propensity to vote in comparison with other issues: four rank higher in importance and two of them — the economy, overall, and inflation, specifically — work strongly in the GOP’s favor.”
