(TheConservativeNews.org) – The weather conditions in Texas have been grabbing headlines across the globe this week. Areas of the state which usually enjoy mild winter temperatures have had winds and heavy snowfall instead. Rolling blackouts are now an issue due to extreme weather and the spike in demand for heating energy. However, it may be the case that these blackouts could have been avoided if not for certain policies.
Former Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) spoke to Tucker Carlson on Fox News on Tuesday, February 16. Perry took the opportunity to blast the modern liberal preoccupation with renewable energy, pointing out the grave risks associated with turning away from traditional power sources. He highlighted the fact that wind turbine propellers had frozen in many areas of Texas during the cold snap, rendering them temporarily inoperable.
Unless there’s “diversity,” in terms of energy production, Perry claimed, “countless lives” would be at risk from extreme weather events like this one.
At the time of writing, 21 recorded deaths across 4 states have been attributed to this storm; some of these have resulted from power loss. Clearly, the stakes in this discussion could not be higher.
