Disinformation Board Has Been Disband…

( – The Department of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board, launched just three weeks ago. However, concerns were being raised, and now the department is putting this project on a “pause.”

Groups working on mis-, dis-, and mal-information within the DHS have reportedly been suspended, with the board potentially facing cancellation pending a review from the Homeland Security Advisory Council.

The Washington Post reported “Jankowicz was pulled into an urgent call with DHS officials who gave her the choice to stay on, even as the department’s work was put on hold because of the backlash it faced, according to multiple people with knowledge of the call.”

On Monday, those with knowledge of the situation said that DHS decided to shut down the board. The following morning, Nina Jankowicz had drafted a resignation letter in response.

The Washington Post’s article titled “How the Biden administration let right-wing attacks derail its disinformation efforts” places the blame for the ending of this program on conservatives on social media, saying that “Jankowicz’s experience is a prime example of how the right-wing Internet apparatus operates, where far-right influencers attempt to identify a target, present a narrative and then repeat mischaracterizations across social media and websites with the aim of discrediting and attacking anyone who seeks to challenge them.”

Many took to twitter to show their support and celebrate the decision.
