(TheConservativeNews.org) – Over the last several weeks, it’s become clear the US Postal Service (USPS) faces some real challenges that will need congressional help to solve. Still, that doesn’t mean that they’re in cahoots with the Republicans to help Donald Trump win the election.
Democrats have been insisting President Trump is working with the new Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, to sabotage the upcoming election. It’s an explosive talking point. However, that doesn’t make it true — if anything, it shows what the Dems are doing.
One of the lies being pushed by the Left and the media is the USPS is removing mail-sorting machines to gum up the works with mail-in ballots.
The truth is, in recent decades, the volume of mail has significantly decreased. That means the infrastructure required to handle the flow of mail has decreased, too.
Removing mail-sorting machines is nothing new. The USPS has been consolidating equipment and operations for years. It’s done primarily to reduce costs, not to help Trump. In fact, the practice predates this president altogether.
Another conspiracy theory being spread by the Dems and media is the USPS is removing mailboxes to make it harder for people to vote.
Again, the facts aren’t on their side. In reality, the USPS has more than 140,000 blue mailboxes located all over the country. They regularly move these boxes around to optimize efficiency. This activity is not to make mail-in voting harder. It’s to move the boxes from low-demand areas to high-priority spots. It has nothing to do with Donald Trump.
Despite these practices being standard operating procedures, the USPS has said it’ll suspend any further moving of mailboxes and sorting machines until after the election.
It looks like the Left is going to have to come up with new talking points.
