(TheConservativeNews.org) – When the Founding Fathers designed our system of government, separation of powers was one of their main aims. To ensure no individual or entity could gain too much influence, they created three separate branches of government, as well as divisions within these branches. This is why Congress, which forms the legislative branch, is made up of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
It appears as though the modern left doesn’t care much for structures that uphold democracy. That’s why, on Monday, November 9, many radical Liberals began calling for the abolition of the Senate on various social platforms.
This trend started after Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) gave an interview on Fox News, during which he condemned talk of Supreme Court packing and removing the filibuster.
Outraged that anyone would question their radical motives, Liberals began suggesting the abolition of the Senate. Such a move would grant the Democrats total control of Congress, as they have a significant majority in the House.
It’s at times like these, when relations between the Right and the Left are rocky and the political landscape is fraught, that we need solid ruling bodies more than ever. If we allow radical Democrats to tear down institutions like the Senate to serve short-term goals, the ramifications for our democracy could last generations.
