(TheConservativeNews.org) – The first presidential debate of 2020 did not disappoint. On Tuesday, September 29, Chris Wallace moderated a heated discussion that touched on 6 distinct topics over 90 minutes. While Joe Biden’s performance was well-rehearsed and mostly coherent, Donald Trump emerged as the clear victor in several areas.
Trump’s submissions on the law enforcement issues the country is currently facing were sensible and entirely consistent with his policies up to now. As he pointed out, Biden was unwilling to speak frankly about policing issues for fear of alienating the far-left element of his supporter base. Tellingly, when President Trump brought up Biden’s involvement in the problematic crime bill of 1994, the latter was unable to provide an effective response.
On the topic of electoral fraud, Trump reiterated his willingness to involve the Supreme Court if serious questions about the reliability of mail-in ballots persist. He cited statistics about the invalidation of ballots and encouraged Americans to vote in person. This discussion is highly pertinent in the context of the stories continuing to emerge about voter fraud across the country, like the one below.
For Trump supporters, last night’s debate was very encouraging. For fans of Joe Biden and the Democrats, it raised a number of concerns. The race remains a close one, though. Next Wednesday will be the second debate, which is sure to throw up more interesting discussions.
