CNN Host Calls Out Democrat’s Hypocritical Comments on Camera

( – The Senate filibuster remains one of the most controversial political topics of the day. With the chamber split 50/50, Democrats are struggling to reach the required 60-vote supermajority on many of their proposals. Therefore, a lot of Liberals want to modify, or entirely do away with, the filibuster rule.

Of course, this is a long-term solution to a short-term problem. The balance of power in the Senate has not always favored Democrats, and the party has only started pushing for the abolition of the filibuster since it began causing problems for them.

In a somewhat unlikely turn of events, given the network’s presumed liberal bias, CNN’s Jake Tapper pointed out this hypocrisy to Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) on Tuesday, June 22. After Blumenthal claimed “dark money” was too influential in American politics, Tapper highlighted the fact Democrats were in charge of both houses of Congress and the White House. In an attempt to dig himself out of this corner, Blumenthal alleged that the filibuster was getting in the way of important bills, and that his party colleagues wanted to “tremendously modify” it.

At this point, Tapper inquired whether Blumenthal had ever voted to filibuster a Republican bill, which Blumenthal said he had done “a number of times.” He then tried to move the discussion to a more favorable place with a lengthy speech about his history of opposing the filibuster (despite having used it himself).

Blumenthal’s bland, meandering responses to Jake Tapper’s questions failed to hide the fact that his opposition to the filibuster is grossly hypocritical.
