(TheConservativeNews.org) – The hard-left leanings of the average American university are nothing new. For several years now, conservative speech has been suppressed, even punished, on college campuses across the country. Now, it appears these radical institutions have begun openly offering their support to Communism.
On Monday, February 8, the Washington Free Beacon released a report detailing a relationship between UC Berkeley in California and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). According to the article, the CCP paid UC Berkeley millions of dollars to operate a “big data research center.”
This center has been used to help with the formation of policy by the Chinese government in areas like economic decision-making and the provision of public services.
Given the appalling human rights abuses perpetrated by the current Chinese regime, it’s disappointing to see an American university working closely with the country’s government. However, it’s hardly surprising considering that Berkeley was the campus on which leftists physically assaulted conservative students in 2019.
