(TheConservativeNews.org) – President Biden recently signed a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. The president waited 10 days to make the move, so Congress could return from recess. Despite being one of the largest infrastructure spending bills in the history of the United States, with a $1.2 trillion price tag, only about $550 billion will improve the nation’s infrastructure.

The 2,072-page bill shows that $110 billion will go into improving America’s roads and bridges, which President Biden says will become the best in the world over the next decade. Another $108 billion will go toward improving the nation’s electrical grid. America’s airports are looking to get an upgrade as Biden’s bill allots $25 billion to improve their infrastructure as well.

Nearly $50 billion will improve water infrastructure, with $17 billion going to ports and waterways and $2.5 billion going toward ferries. Additionally, $55 billion will replace the nation’s lead pipelines and mark the largest investment in clean drinking water.

While some of the selling points look beneficial, others look more like socialist action. An estimated $7.5 billion will go into the creation of America’s first electric car charging stations along highways, while $5 billion will add electric buses to more roads. Combined with last year’s American Rescue Plan, $65 billion will go toward boosting the nation’s broadband and helping all Americans gain access to high-speed Internet. Another program proposes measures to slow climate change, while another assesses the pros and cons of self-driving vehicles. Additional funds will go toward research and education.

One of the largest investments is going into public transit, with $39 billion going towards the maintenance of thousands of buses, railcars and miles of train tracks. Amtrak will receive $66 billion for high-speed railways, improvements along its route connecting Boston and DC and safety upgrades. Funds will also improve access for the elderly and disabled. The bill includes $11 billion going to road and transportation safety programs.

All of these plans add up, and taxpayers will ultimately foot the bill. Are we ready for this kind of investment?
