The Biden campaign is now eating its words after criticizing anti-Israel activist, Linda Sarsour, for speaking out against one of America’s top allies. The fact that Biden’s representatives are eating crow is evidence of their concern about alienating the campaign’s leftist base. Furthermore, Biden’s inability to stick to his original stance is concerning. President Trump would be wise to use Biden’s pivot on the Sarsour matter against him in the upcoming debates.
A Private Apology After Public Condemnation
The Biden campaign apologized to Sarsour in private after publicly criticizing her views on Israel. The question begs: why the lack of transparency? Why apologize in private? It makes it appear as though the Biden campaign is hiding something.
Sarsour is becoming somewhat of a prominent figure as the leader of the BDS movement, short for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. This group zeros in on Israel for supposed wrongdoings. Furthermore, Sarsour has ties to the Nation of Islam, a group noted for its antisemitism. In fact, Sarsour has gone as far as declaring a jihad against President Trump.
Why was Sarsour Allowed to Speak During the Democrats’ Virtual Caucus?
Sarsour was featured during the Democrats’ virtual caucus meeting. However, after critics voiced their displeasure with Sarsour’s words, the Biden campaign turned against her. The truth of the matter is the Biden campaign handpicked Sarsour to speak at its virtual convention. In other words, Biden has allied himself with an anti-semite in the hopes that her words would help him gain favor with the radical left of his party.
Biden’s subsequent private apology to Sarsour was secretly recorded. The call was then leaked to the media, creating quite the mess for the Biden Campaign.
Biden Clearly has an Israel Problem
The fact remains that Israel is the sole democracy in the Middle East. If Biden were wise, he would not issue an apology to an anti-semite, either publicly or privately. Though Biden was considered a supporter of Israel when he launched his political career, he threatened to halt aid to the country in ’82. Biden criticized Israel for constructing apartments in a Jewish portion of Jerusalem back in 2010.
Biden has also highlighted endorsements from an anti-Israeli group, J Street, making it quite clear he is not looking for support from Israelis nor Israel as a nation. Time will tell if Biden’s tune changes. At the moment, President Trump clearly has Israel’s support as we quickly move toward the November election.
